Jo-Lyn Keeshonden was founded in 1975
when my first Keeshond was purchased as a pet for my daughter. The love
for this breed quickly grew and I found myself looking for that first
"Show Dog", which was to be the foundation for Jo-Lyn. A female was
purchased from Mrs. Sam (Dorothy) Kelley which was to be none other than
Ch. Keli-Kees Kandi. Kandi finished her Championship in 11 shows
and was the 1978 Best of Opposite Sex in Futurity winner at the KCA National
Specialty. Kandi was also the KCA's Top Brood Bitch in 1983 and has
11 Champion Get to her credit, which entitles her to be a Register of Merit
Excellent Producer. She is one of America's Top Producers yet to this day.
Her puppies proved themselves in the Show Ring, as Outstanding Producers as well
as lovable family companions in the home.
I am proud to have produced Kees that have been
International Best In Show Winners, Multi Group Winning Keeshonden, The
Top Winning Keeshond, Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, and Best In Futurity Winners
at the KCA National Specialties. The greatest asset to Jo-Lyn has
been my very own homebred, owner-handled Champion, Jo-Lyn's Flaming Ember.
Flame has to her credit 27 Champion get which
entitles her to be the Top Champion Producing Keeshond Bitch in the
history of the breed worldwide.
She was also KCA's Top Brood Bitch for 1988, 1991, and 1992 and is a Register of
Merit Excellent Producer with multi-group winning get. At 10 years of age,
Flame was the Top Veteran Bitch at the 1993 Keeshond Club of Dallas and
the Keeshond Club of America Specialties. But most of all Flame was
my cherished companion.
To follow in Flames' foot steps has been my beloved Punkin. Ch. Jo-Lyn's Pumpkin Spice has a personality that is out of this world. She never knew she had to were a collar to show in but was told from an early age to put on her necklace. Punkin would strut around the ring as if she owned the world. After finishing for the day she always had to be carried upside down and rocked. No spoiled dog here! Punkin is retired from breeding but still loves to show and will be making her debut as a Veteran Show Dog later this year.
After the passing of my father, I continue to maintain and care for our 80 acre farm. Although time and care for my mom does not allow me to travel as much as in the past I still average 20-40 shows per year.
I maintain my kennel and dogs by AKC regulations and abide by the KCA Code of Ethics. Due to my work schedule and family obligations dogs are shown by appointments only. I am proud to have produced over 150 Champion Keeshonden and a family of companion Kees.
